I was not a crafty child. I much preferred to have my nose stuck in a book than get out there and make something new. It wasn't until I was older, nearly out of college, that my life became so overwhelmed by technology that I had to find an outlet. Few jobs today have pride of creating and making something with one's own two hands. Not that I am not proud of my job, but I sell homes, I don't build them.
